Welcome. Welcome to concurrentsquared.com.

You have chosen, or been chosen, to browse to one of my finest crafted web pages. I thought so much of concurrentsquared.com that I elected to establish my Online Presence here, in the Domain Name so thoughtfully provided by Our Benefactors. I have been proud to call concurrentsquared.com my home. And so, whether you are here to stay, or passing through on your way to parts unknown, welcome to concurrentsquared.com. It's safer here.

Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to actually write any blog posts, and I don't really have anything to put here that's notable or interesting otherwise. So, for now, this is just a rudiementary placeholder page.

... uh, I like programming in Haskell and Lean, I guess? I also very much believe that unaligned AI is an existential threat to humanity, but also not developing aligned AI is also an existential threat to humanity.

"We are in such need of intellects greater than our own." Peter Watts writes, and von Neumann infamously noted that "we will be able to go into space way beyond the moon, if only people could keep pace with what they create." I agree with both of these statements; to solve the challenges of our time, we need to either upgrade our own intellects, or create intellects greater than our own. Due to how the dice rolled, humanity has chosen to create intellects greater than our own; but we need to not forget to make sure that they are aligned with our values, for that is a very difficult task to do.
